Basketball
Can anybody tell me about this? Where to go, best place for tickets, parking etc. DS girlfriend wants to do the tickets for an early Christmas present - we go this November. He loves it, we're complete amateurs so can't get it wrong

Not been to basketball in Orlando since before the Magic moved arenas, but they'd be the team you'd be looking to see. The current season is still in progress so the schedule and tickets won't be released for months. Once they are you can go through Ticketmaster or buy a resale on Stubhub.
I'll leave the parking stuff to someone who's been to the Amway Center. |

Assume you're talking about Orlando?
If so we went to see Magic v LA Lakers during our recent Christmas trip. We left Bonnet Creek at 5pm and had booked parking in advance via Ticketmaster for the Geico Garage which is connected to the Amway Center via a sky bridge - cost $20 and it opened 2hrs before the game. It was all very straightforward and well organised with marshals etc - we were parked by 5.40pm. For game tickets you could check the NBA site which I think then sends you to Ticketmaster. Stub Hub may also be an option, we've used them in the past for baseball tickets. Amway has bag checks and metal detectors so allow time for that then once inside there are plenty of merchandise shops and food kiosks including mexican, Papa John pizza, Cold Stone Creamery etc as well as sit down options. We had a great night and also enjoyed free Chick-fil-A the following day as Magic scored five 3-pointers! We go to BBL basketball at home so are used to watching games even if some things are different in USA but I think even if you know nothing about it you will still have a good time

We've used stub hub previously and have bought tickets through them for our trip in April, really easy , no issues at all. Absolute highlight of the holiday. We also have tickets to see the Cav' s at Miami. Can't wait.
Parking is easy at the Amway but not cheap as I recall. |

You can get all the info you need on the Orlando Magic and the Amway Center web sites. The Orlando Magic website has a link for buying tickets, which takes you to Ticketmaster, the official ticket agent. There is parking info on both websites - also look at GoogleMaps and search for 'parking' and you can use StreetView on there to see what it all looks like at street level. Personally I would park on the other side of the I-4, where there are a lot of car parks all of which cost only $10. It is only a 100 yard walk, plus you will be next to the all the bars and restaurants in the Church St Station area - spend the $10 you save on drinks!

you can probably get cheap tickets from stubhub a day or two before an event. we got *really* good seats for a pre-game friendly for about $20pp on the day. just had to print the tickets at the ups store at champions gate before we went
as for parking... you can use the geico garage for $20, or you can park 5 minutes walk away at one of the other parking places in the area for $10... we always use the cheaper places. hth |

We often go to see the Magics at the Amway. Always good fun. Usually get tickets from the Magics website linked to ticketmaster. Never sells out so we tend to book the day of the game or day before to get the returns, so cheaper tickets. Parking is easy - lots around so pay $10 usually. No need to prepay parking. All very easy and always great fun - enjoy
