Fold up walking sticks

Three days to go before flying with Virgin Atlantic and have had an accident and badly bruised my foot. Can't at the moment put much weight on it. DH is thinking of getting a fold up walking stick for support if needed. Would we be able to put this in our hand luggage?

I have walked onto the aircraft with mine and then folded it up and put it in my rucksack for the duration of the flight with no problems. Hope your foot improves quickly.

Whenever I used mine, I walked onto the plane without any issues, and it got folded up and put in the seat pocket in front of me for when I needed it.

When going through security, they'll probably take it and put it through the scanner before giving it back.
