We must nave kept Curry's/Pc World in business this week

I know they don't get good reviews on here but we have always found them acceptable. The tv blew up on Tuesday, a trip to said store, item purchased and taken home and set up, all well.
Yesterday the dishwasher packed up beyond repair and 15 mins later the printer threw a wobbly and chewed up paper and spat out ink. Another trip to Currys and purchases made, both safely installed and working. Please that's it, I have to start thinking about Christmas and holidays soon!

Oh don’t you hate a run like that
Everything but the dishwasher and washing machine I could wait days
For replacements DH it’s the telly or lap top and it’s camped out I;front of the store for a replacement

Oh no. Isn't it strange how things seem to break down in three's!

I picked up a bargain Toshiba TV for my Mother in Law 2 weeks ago as hers died and she is housebound so needed one immediately. Curry's were the closest to her house and I found them ok.

I've always liked curry's. I can see what I am buying rather than trying to figure out what it looks like on line.

Just me I know but I don't like Curry's. Nothing I can really put my finger on either.

I tend to drift in there, find what I want, decide if it's right for my needs then research like crazy when home and buy it elsewhere. Sad to say I can't see them lasting long as people like me must be killing them.

Sadly not everybody has the time to research. We and I suspect others needed instant replacements. DH only has two days a week off work and the items needed to be up and running by the end of said time. That all smacks of instant gratification but so be it. They have been around for years, so hopefully a few more yet.

I do agree with you. When we were working it was 'get it done' Little time to research and it was all about getting the problem sorted.

trouble with currys nowadays is it is no longer "stack em in the warehouse out back and take em home" unless it is one of their promoted items.

You can sometimes still have a wait. If I log onto AO I can get the dishwasher I want next day, if I go to Currys they do the "oh, this one will be next week/2 weeks, we have the xyz (promotional item) in stock for delivery tomorrow" - even printers sometimes- "we can sell this one to you to take away today, or this one we are out of right now, but can get it to you in 2-3 days".

To me the point of going there is it is/was quick and easy. Small tech and appliances, great... bigger stuff, not so much.

And I refuse to stay in a shop with alarms going. In our local one they hook up so much of the small tech to individual alarms that there is always one going off. If that happens I walk out - I have misophonia and after 20 seconds of the alarm going I want to flee or throw something.

Mr T, I agree, there are many ways that retirement saves money and this is one. The ability to spend a few days in the week on a 'project' is invaluable.

Of course the ability to fly any day is also important when getting reward flights
