I think the child rule is that, aged 11 and under (?) they sit adjacent to an adult over 12 years of age, but this can mean in front of or behind, or across the aisle. If you book Economy Light for the four of you and then pay to add bags but not seats, you won't necessarily be sat in a row and the airline won't move people to accommodate you if you haven't paid for the privilege. I'm pretty sure when you book for children there is a pop up that will tell you the correct information about children and adults sitting together. I have only ever seen it ones in all my years of flying where a little one hasn't been sat right next to their adult, but I've seen on here it does happen so if it's important I would pay for the seats. If they are older and just gonna sit with headphones on and will be fine if they end up sat in front of you rather than next to you, you could risk it.

Thomas Cook could work out cheaper for you even though you have to pay for the bags and seats but you can then pick and choose. Their base fares are pretty low and start at £89 one way.

I agree with muzland, maybe if you call them they can put it through as one booking for you?

Nothing to lose!

Our flight we've just done was booked through Travel Trolley and had me on Economy Classic and my daughter on Economy Light as we it needed one case between us. I paid 60 to be able to reserve a seat for her so I could choose both seats.
