anyone else tried making their own? its surprisingly easy!

so i got a rack of ribs (5-6 fullsize ribs) from the butcher for £15ish. i trimmed off the ribs, leaving a slab of meat/fat that was perfect for streaky bacon

basically, put in a sealed bag with curing salt/spices for a week, wash off, place in a muslin bag and hang vertically on a hook in the fridge for another week or so. slice and cook!

some into the pan...

finally, shove it in a nice sturdy cob and top with your favourite condiment, in this case some SAUCE SHOP ketchup

I grew up with bacon hanging in the kitchen, my Dad always cured his own bacon, from his own pigs. 🐷
