Itinerary help?

Hey everyone I’m wondering is there a place we can go to get help with our itinerary at all? It is the first time we are going with our 5 year old. My husband and I have been before but we are very aware this trip is for our son not us! So advice for maximising the fun for the boy is what we need!

We are hopefully going august 17-31 and have a hire car. Staying at AOA and only doing Disney...

Any pointers where to go for help would be super appreciated x

When I first went my DD was 5.

My plan is to always do at least 1 day at each park and then to do an afternoon/evening as well. This will mean that you get to see the fireworks display's (if they have started are on then). I often do some extra time at the parks we really enjoy like Magic Kingdom and Hollywood studios. Especially if it is the first visit you may be wanting to do character meets as well as rides.

Also look at a park map and the list of rides and know the ones you would like to ride and the height restrictions. This will help if fast passes do return and also for when there you have more of an idea as to what rides to head to and what ones to avoid.

100% take a buggy with you, our daughter hadn't used a buggy at home for a while but a friend recommended it and I am so glad they did. It gets very tiring in the heat and its a lot of walking.

We try to have a "rest" day between some of the park days, the rest days we usually do a water park, stay at the hotel and pool and also go to the outlets for shopping. I have stayed at AOA and it is a lovely hotel and such a great theme. Sometimes we will go shopping, head back and then head to a park for the fireworks and grab some dinner in one of them.

Also make sure to reserve your park days, due to Covid you need to book these. I would also book some on the days you plan pool days as you may want to pop into one of them or the plans might change due to weather or being too tired. You can then cancel them if there not needed closer to the time.

Hope that helps a bit. There are some good trip reports on here as well that you could take a look at and see how they planned their days.

Hi. We went with ours who were 2 months shy of 5 and 3.5years.

For me I used touringplans. Have used them for years and it helped us in the rides in parks. Not sure what it would be like now with covid stuff but they always tell me which rides to do in what order. Worked amazing for me. I did do a trip report of what we did those days. Some days we did more than others depending on the kids.

Even though everyone said take a buggy we didn’t. We didn’t hire one or anything. My two walked round every time. Only time I regretted this was after MK fireworks.

Also depends on how tall your 5 year old is and how much they like rides too.

Hey did you find any websites to help you with this please? I’m also planning a first trip and feel a bit lost. Didn’t realise there was so much to plan. I looked at touring plans but wasn’t sure how it worked? An account I follow on Instagram posted about a new uk business helping with trip planning today which looks good so I’m considering emailing them but would be great if anyone had recommendations x

This is probably the best website to help with planning. Try not to get too bogged down with to much planning as it’ll only stress you out.

All you really need to do is get a basic plan together. Like which parks on which days you want and get those booked in on the My Disney Experience app/website.

Try not to do too much too soon in the holiday as you will wear yourself out. I find that the first week you are more likely to be up and out early so maybe plan to relax on an evening. Then in the second week it’ll work the other way around like a bit more leisurely on a morning and doing more on an afternoon evening.

You will get loads of help on here and I’m sure you could even say what you would like to do/achieve and a Dibber will do a plan for you.

Thank you so much. We booked a couple of years ago but obviously got pushed back and only really just started to think about it and felt a bit overwhelmed

I think maybe we are trying to do too much with all the Disney parks, Harry Potter at universal and dolphin swim at discovery cove. I’m not sure if we will be able to go again so I want to be able to fit it all in

I am worried about the jet lag so I’m glad you said that!

Everyone here has been really helpful so far so thank you
