Mears Announces “Mears Connect” Transportation from Orlando Airport to Disney

Mears have announced their replacement for Disney’s Magical Express which will be ending at the end of this year. Called “Mears Connect”, this new service will start in January 2022 and operate between the Orlando International Airport and the resorts in the Walt Disney World area.

There will be a scheduled service, luggage handling, convenient airport terminal access, and return trips from resorts to the airport. Prices for all services will be announced later this year and Mears will start taking reservations from May.

The official webpage can be found here:

Good to see there will be an official replacement for DME, although it’s unfortunate that you’ll have to pay extra for this service. Also, sadly, the buses won’t have any Disney theming.

So, pretty much what they have been doing all along then. When we booked with VH back in 2010 transfers were included in the booking (we didn't know we could have cancelled them, got a refund and used the ME). The transfers were Mears coaches and they stopped at about 3 hotels before us.

I suspect this will be exactly the same service they already do for VH.

Will be interesting to see the cost. I wonder how many people will just grab an Uber instead, probably the same price and much quicker.

Yeah, this is probably more of a rebranding exercise to highlight it's existence and make folk aware of this option who previously would have used the DME. And, I guess, Mears will be increasing the service to cater for the additional people.

It's a pity Mears didn't call this something like the "Direct Mears Express". It would have a similar name to Disney's Magical Express and even share the same acronym.
