WDW Standalone hand washing stations being removed

Just reading that the standalone hand washing stations which were installed before the parks reopened last July are starting to be removed from around the theme parks. Is this another sign of progress ?

It is, but I wish they would leave them to be honest.

I don't understand why they would be removed 🤔

Yes feeling very mixed about this - feels like a step forward to more normal times, but good hand hygiene facilities are a big plus pandemic or not, not everyone (DH included) can use alcohol based sanitisers.

I’d actually like then to stay as probably much more environmentally friendly than the amount of wipes we go through before eating just a snack or sitting down to any meal
Yes I’m that woman that’s sitting at a table at quick service that wipes the table makes the kids use a wipe before eating etc. Etc just can’t never have been able to sit down anywhere even in a 5* restaurant to eat if I’ve not washed or used a wipe or sanitizer
On my hands we+all now have and for years have our own reusable straws cutlery in
A little case for park days
I’ve been know to embarrass the kid DS DH on many occasions by not letting them eat
Till we’ve done the routine

I do think they should be kept, but good hand hygiene is also down to the individual, so people need to start taking responsibility for washing their hands. I always take my own with me everywhere I go, even before Covid!

I wonder how easy they were to keep clean though 🤷 Maybe it’s not just about returning to normal, maybe they don’t think it’s the most affective method.

I can image it being a soapy sticky mess quite quickly.

The restroom sinks can be pretty bad at busy times and there are normally cms cleaning them frequently.

They’re not plumbed either are they? Could be that they run out too quickly now they’re busier and they can’t fill them quick enough. They wouldn’t want people constantly coming across empty ones.

CDC advice has been updated. COVID doesn’t spread well on surfaces. 1 in 10,000 IF you come across a contaminated surface.

They were the freestanding ones you see near portaloos at festivals etc. No where near as good as a proper sink and I never saw them actually being used. I wouldn't read much into their removal.
