window looming for next year

starting to look at flights for next year. Not many bargains to be had so far. April was our first date, BA, air france, ANA and JAL have had prices out for a few weeks and they havent been encouraging. cheapest we saw was 650 per person, that is 150 more than we paid last time. All other providers were at least 720. The 650 ones went after a week and these are now 700.

not boding well for the next (preferrable by me) window which is July for us.

Then of course Japan is still closed so the tickets are being purchased against current advice...

Am in same boat, we decided to go May 14th (or within a day or two either side) so our bookings in few weeks will be against advise, I just hope that ANA extended their COVID guarantee...

We are planning for next July, so will be looking around September for flights. I am hoping to book with BA again as they are very flexible. We cancelled our Japan flights this summer and booked California for New Year. It’s difficult to plan and very frustrating!

BA were the most expensive for early april (traditionally low season) they were just short of 800 each but did have a youth ticket for our youngest. still it was over 3k for 4 of us.

For BA flights this summer for 5 of us with a night at the Hilton airport hotel, Manchester it was about £3400.00
I was happy to pay that for us all.

we have decided to hold off plane tickets until japan announce entry dates. all the insurance policies ive seen would not cover the flight bookings due to the current advice being no entry at time of purchase. too much of a risk.

the difference between flexible tickets and st in around a £1000 total so not worth it imho. semi flexible are around £500 more total but still have a couple hundred admin fee.

not ideal and may well sink the holiday but we arent willing to risk 2.6k on a possibility of losing it.

I totally understand your login here.

Am keeping an eye on the ANA web site to see if they update their COVID related T&C.

Last year they had a refund policy, but that stopped and they are allowing unlimited date changes - which to me is more they keep your money.

Be June by the time the dates I want appear, so they have time to change the fare rules back again.
