Halloween or Christmas?

We're currently planning on visiting WDW next October but I'm considering changing it to Christmas. I prefer the weather in October as it's hotter but I love the vibe and decorations around the Christmas period. We wouldn't be there for Christmas day as it would be far too hectic for me.

I should add that we are doing a split stay (Disney package and DVC) So if we go in October we benefit from the free dining but if we go in December we only get the 10% discount which obviously isn't as good.

Really not sure what to do, when would you go and why?

We went at Christmas a few years back and I absolutely loved it, it was busy but with well planned fast passes and half days in the park we had a great time. The decorations were beautiful and we loved the atmosphere!

We are going next week for 3 weeks so get to see both. We did the MNSSHP in 2015 so going to do MVMCP this time.

We’ve done both.

We loved Christmas, the ginger bread houses, the different Christmas food in Epcot, the little scavenger hunts, the trees, MVMCP. We loved it all.

We REALLY struggled with the weather. It was between 9-32 degrees within the 2 weeks that were were there. We also found the crowds a bit much. We did have cast members tell us it was weird and there seemed to have been a complete lack of “quiet” time when there normally would be that specific year and they weren’t sure why. They weren’t prepared for the crowds at time.

So it’s Halloween for us! Love the weather, yes it’s hot and humid, but we go on holiday for sun, not to be colder than we would have been at home! (The universe parade with the fake snow when it was 9 degrees felt right though!) we prefer MNSSHP to MVMCP and I’ve done Halloween 3x and all 3x the crowds have been less.

We were lucky enough to see both last year as we went at the end of October to mid-November.

If I had to choose between the two, I would pick Christmas.

Personally I would avoid both Holidays, we hate crowds. But I know we went to avoid Halloween and ran into Jersey Week.

Never Ever Ever Ever again...… the parks were heaving. It was a horrific nightmare.

We’ve done both, but neither actually on the day iykwim! I think the decorations for Christmas are nicer, but you do take more of a risk with the weather. We went late November into early December and some nights we were in shorts and t shirt and others we had 5 layers and could have done with more! Daytime temperatures were lovely though. We’ve done MVMCP and MNSSHP and preferred MNSSHP, but that’s only a small part of the overall experience. The gingerbread houses are amazing!
