Afternoon tea in London
Can anyone recommend a really nice place for afternoon tea in London? Me and BFF are going to London in December to celebrate our 50th birthdays and want a nice afternoon tea somewhere. We are not bothered about the cost and want a real treat such as Ritz etc. I have seen on Trip Advisor that you only have 90 minutes at The Ritz which is quite off putting as when you spend that much money you don’t want to be rushed.

Weve always really enjoyed The Dorchester and also One Aldwych. Took MIL for her 70th, and they made a fuss of her- including a birthday cake too- she felt on top of the world to be made a fuss of, it was lovely would definitely recommend.

There are lots of lovely ones! My favourites have been The Langham and Fortnum and Mason.
The restaurants at The Shard are a good experience. The afternoon tea wasn't particularly memorable but the view was great. |

I can only comment on Claridges where ex DH and I celebrated 20 years of marriage.
We went mid week and and had a wonderful time, probably helped that Bradley Cooper and Heather Graham were sat on the table opposite us! We didn’t feel rushed and we were regularly topped with fresh drinks and additional sandwiches or cakes. We even had a happy anniversary cake and ex birthday was on the same day so he had birthday cake too.

We had Langham booked for December there for my 50th but had to cancel. My dh picked it as apparently it was first hotel in London to offer afternoon tea. Their festive tea looked amazing. So we have re booked for this December and also for May for my dh 50th and our 20th anniversary.

We have done a few and to be honest nothing has beaten the Ritz.
The most generous one was County Hall where they just kept on and on with the prosecco. |
