Outer Hebrides
I am ashamed to say I've never really set foot in Scotland. Would love to explore the outer hebrides one day. Ive sent for a travel book which includes some tips on island hopping. I really have no idea where to start or where to go. I am in Norfolk so its prob a flight up. Any tips or advice please? Its another destination to add to my long bucket list.

Have a look at the Calmac website calmac/
They have all the ferry details and some suggestions for itineraries. The Hebrides are amazing to explore |

An hours flight from Glasgow to Stornoway or Benbecula, or Barra to land on the beach. About 20 mins from Inverness to Stornoway. Check out Callanish stones, Blackhouse village, Traigh Mhor trekking, Rodal Church, Postman's walk, St Kilda tours, Lewis Castle museum and of course all our gorgeous beaches. Will you be looking to be based on one island or to visit several? Hotel, B&B, self catering, glamping or camping? I live on Lewis

If I wanted to see a few islands then I think I would drive and do ferry from Oban to Lochboisdale ( South Uist) then B&B couple of nights South Uist with a trip to Eriskay to see the wild ponies and a day trip as foot passengers to Barra (Eriskay - Castlebay ferry). Would then move up to Benbecula/ North Uist for a few nights before getting Sound of Harris Ferry from Berneray to Lever burgh (Harris). A day or two exploring Harris and an extra day if going on a trip over to St Kilda, then up to Lewis for 5 days or so to visit Callanish, Blackhouse, Lewis Chessmen, beach riding at Traigh Mhor etc before Stornoway to Ullapool ferry back to the mainland ( or back to Tarbert on Harris to get ferry to Skye and travel back that way.
