Universal Annual Passes, ran out during Covid?
Sorry as I can see loads of Universal pass questions but they seem to be about wanting to buy passes now for upcoming hollidays.
We upgraded in Universal last time we were there knowing we'd be returning Summer 2020, obviously we didn't know then about Covid so our AP's have expired over the 2020 year due to no International Travel. We will be emailing Universal as I'm pretty sure they'll extend the passes but just wondered if anyone had already gone through this and what their experiences were, good or bad? Thanks |

There was a thread about this last summer. Lots of Dibbers with Universal passes contacted guest services regarding their passes and Universal were very accomodating. For example we had Seasonal passes which we bought in May 2019 and only used for 3 days as we were planning to return April 2020. Universal have offered us 5-day 3-park passes for when we next return. Many others were offered something similar and some people even had their passes put on hold until they next return.
Hopefully they will do something similar for you, even though I'm assuming your passes have now expired? On the thread last year I think most people still had valid passes when they contacted Universal.

Yes but they dont extend them, they freeze them. I contacted US when there were 5 months left on the passes, they froze them and so they they still have five months to be reactivated when we can revisit. I've heard others have not had the same success, and it seemed to be how many days you had used them for initially. I think we had only gone in the parks for three days, but others who had used them a lot more were not successful in freezing them.

We had unused seasonal passes. Contacted universal who cancelled them then gave us 6 month passes from first use. So we can use them whenever we get back. Hopefully this summer. They’ve been really helpful.

Glenn what I would expect them to do for you would be give you back the time they were closed, they froze ours so we got the 3 months plus the 3 months still remaining- would have been perfectly happy with 30 days as I only see us going once in that 6 months (unless those numbers come up!)
Email them with your UAP numbers, not sure if the fact that they have already expired will make a difference. SD

As above we contacted them and have been given equivalent passes for 3 months. That would equate to what was left when we contacted them. All you can do is ask.

I contacted US customer service as ours ran out in May 20. We were due to go last year.
They initially offered a 5 day pass, but I emailed them again and they then froze our passes and we now have 3 months “left” on them from whenever we get to go back. Which was the time lost from when the parks closed. I did email them before ours expired. We had upgraded them from 14 explorers but had only used them as annual passes for two days. I’ve booked the hard rock for next May, fingers crossed. Edited at 07:13 PM. |

We picked up our Premier Annual Passes in Dec 19 and used them on that trip... we had intended to also use them in April 20 and October 20. I emailed them late last year and they cancelled them and arranged for new Premier Passes, valid for 10 months, to be available for us to collect at any time in the next 3 years. We're currently rebooked for August.
Have to say, I think that was amazing. We did the same with Disney - picked up Dec 19 - and their stance was tough luck - they're about to expire.
