Train to Manchester- best hotel, raddison?
I’m thinking about getting the train to Manchester airport. We would have hand luggage only, so it’s fairly easy to do.
Are we then best to stay at the raddison or is it easy to get to one of the cheaper alternative hotels. We are 4 adults so would need 2 rooms at the raddison. |

The radisson is the most convenient by far, but we stayed close by too - a quick call for the hotel minibus from the train station was easy to do, then again booked from the hotel in the morning. If I was saving a lot (£40-50) I would stay elsewhere.

We love staying in The Radisson for it being handy to walk to from the station, but have equally enjoyed staying at Premier Inn Runger Lane North, but that's £10 in a taxi from the station and of course back to the airport the next morning.

Depends on your budget to be fair. We've stayed at the Radission a few times, very convenient. But you obviously pay a premium for this. If I get a good price i'd go for the Radisson. Otherwise i'd opt for an alternative, cheaper close by..

I’d love to say budget was not an issue as it obviously is, but I am also opting for the train to make life easier rather than harder
Saying that, if train prices don’t drop dramatically we will be driving! |

To be fair, you could probably drive and pay for 2 weeks parking for less than the train! Would you be all travelling in the same car? If so i'd opt to drive and park. You could even save on not having the hotel and drive to Manchester early on the morning of your flight. But guess that will depend on how far you're having to drive. We're in East Yorkshire and have both driven the night before and on the morning of flight. We've also done the train direct from Hull (many years ago!).
You should weigh up budget versus convenience and figure out what you're happiest doing.

I’m trying to avoid the long drive home as I just think it’s so dangerous. We are in Newcastle, google maps says 2 1/2 hours but I feel like it takes much longer than that.

Have you got any Tesco Clubcard points to help with the hotel costs?
We also use Clubcard to buy our annual railcards ... saves us so much! |

Radisson is about two minutes walk from the station. Really, very convenient - we loved getting the train and then staying there the last time we went to Florida in 2019.
It's a bit further to access the phones (and therefore, the shuttle buses) to the other airport hotels from the Terminal but not much The only annoying thing we've found about getting the train is the journey back as you can never really predict when you'll be back, and unless you pay a fortune for an open return, we always end up waiting a good while at the station on the return journey. |

We've stayed at all the Manchester Airport hotels. Yes, Radisson is most convenient. PI and holiday Inn short taxi ride away. Of the others that have shuttles I prefer the Hilton
