Flying from MCO to LAS

What would you say is a reasonable price?

We have Orlando & Vegas booked for November. I have just started looking at flights from MCO to LAS and for our date (19th Nov) they're coming up more expensive than I was expecting - $331pp plus $38 per checked bag.

Annoyingly the week before is only $178pp which what is more like what I was hoping to pay. Both of these are with Frontier Airlines. I've seen that Spirit Airlines are meant to be reasonably priced but they only have up til 16th November currently.

Does anybody have any idea why they're so expensive for this date? Are they likely to go down if I leave it a few more months? I've never booked domestic flights in the USA before so I'm not sure when the best time to book usually is.

Big convention in Vegas in November and right between the Marathon and Thanksgiving
We’ve used Spirit a few times cheap and cheerful but absolutely fine

I’ve paid around $100 one way in September withAmerican , try looking at flying from MLB instead.
I agree it’s probably Thanksgiving not helping.

Thanks all, I purposely planned it so we'd be leaving the day before Thanksgiving... but didn't really consider the fact that we'd then be flying to Vegas the weekend before Thanksgiving! And I had no idea about the convention.

I'll try play around on skycanner with different departure airports and maybe wait for Spirit to release their prices.

We flew Nov 2019 on November 15th and paid $115 with Frontier. Plus luggage, can’t remember the price. That was a Friday and it was marathon weekend so the difference may well be Thanksgiving

Frontier was a lot cheaper than any of the other options and we wanted a direct flight.

We paid about £180 for the 2 of us with southwest, that included 2 hold cases each. Very impressed with them.

With Vegas, if there is a large convention going on, the prices typically only go UP as it gets closer to the date - this is true for both flights and hotels. But you might be able to get a cheaper price if you're able to shift your dates by even a day or two, since most attendees only fly in the day before so it tends to cause a small spike.

We always fly southwest. They do a couple of direct, non stop flights a day and bags are included 👍. Think we usually pay around $130 each from memory.
