Thats bad news. Maybe they know something we don't.

May 17th was the proposed date for reopening wasn't it?

Why delay it 6 weeks after that?

I guess because there have been no public indications of rescinding the proclamation on travel from the US side? 😢

I was suspicious they know something when BA cancelled direct flights to the 6th June (Gatwick-MCO).
I am now on a flight to Heathrow-Miami-MCO but loosing hope!

There was a few people on here quoting some paid up travel consultant Paul Charles suggesting this date. He has since changed his mind suggesting the US will be now Amber. Also Joe Biden has made no indication that he will open up travel before July

We are due to fly on the 12th June out of LHR to MCO, similar no sign of the flight to book now. So sent a what's app this morning and got back the reply that flight is still going as scheduled and is probably full, having a look at the seating the flight is half empty so cant help thinking they do know and are just stalling until an official announcement or i would love the case to be limited number so had to stop sales. Somehow do not think that would be true though !

I am confused 😒
Why would direct flights get cancelled but indirect go ahead?
Whats the reasoning? The end result is the same, arriving from UK to US.
I don’t get it 🤷

Flights have been running throughout the pandemic from LHR to the 10 or so designated International US airports. Virgin have flights to LA, Boston and New York operational today.

This will just be a continuation of that, ie assuming you are allowed to travel, you could fly, say, from LHR to New York and then pick up a connection down to Orlando.

Gryff - stanleycamel and Northwich have posted in another thread that the designated airports regulation stopped in mid September last year. The airlines just choose to travel to a small few at the moment. Virgin have a once weekly flight to Miami.
