Film scenes that choke you up
What scenes in films really choke you up?
For me, it’s two scenes from the same film. Saving Private Ryan Scene 1 - The Padre calls to inform Mrs Ryan about her Three boys and she collapses on the porch. Scene 2 - Omaha beach cemetery and the surviving Ryan brother asks his wife if he has led a good life ... tell me I’m a good man ...and she says you are. Breaks my heart every time. Kramer v Kramer Divorce hearing scene What scenes choke you up? Edited at 03:52 PM. |

Funnily enough - Mama Mia 2, the scene at the end where the baby's getting baptized, and Meryl Streep shows up while they're singing. As a young mum myself when I saw this last year, I was in absolute floods and floods of tears! And I was expecting this to be a light-hearted comedy haha!

Still get tearful at the end of the Champ, when Ricky Schroder is crying for his father (Jon Voight) gets me every time 😭

Armageddon - Bruce Willis being made of "the right stuff" - sob... (Bruce Willis for goodness sake!)
but in my defence - watching Liv Tyler on screen sobbing for her screen dad when her real dad was singing some rocking tunes was too much... |

I’m very hard hearted it takes a lot to make me cry at something that’s not real life, but both scenes in Carousel where they sing You’ll Never Walk Alone get to me good and proper, so much that I tear up if a match from Anfield is being shown and they show the crowd singing it before kick off 😢😢😢

Run Wild Run Free (1969), Mark Lester at the end begging the wild pony he called Philip to get out of the bog he was stuck in. It was on last weekend and still made me cry - I am 58.

Top of my head at the moment before I have a good think, is the final scene of Gone With The Wind when Rhett walks out on Scarlet. Another one is the tower scene in Anne of The Thousand Days between Anne Boleyn and Henry VIII just before her execution. Such fantastic acting by Genevieve Bujold.
