Mobile Aug 2020 flights starting to panick!

We are looking for MAN to ORL Aug 15th to 29th 2020 flights and since the collapse of TC flight prices as we all know have gone crazy!

I realise virgin/aer lingus etc are still to release their flights for those dates but have also noticed the indirect with Lufthansa, BA, etc are getting booked up!

I am in a real quandary as to what to do?

I am tempted to wait it out and hope prices will settle down, what are others doing?

We need flights only from London - Orlando or Tampa 12th Aug (or any date up until 16th Aug) flying back 14 nights later... so we are in the same situation as you. Prices are mad. Virgin Atlantic released 12th Aug flights today for our return date, but still too high. They do a great indirect price though, using them and Delta... but we really wanted direct!

Until more airlines release flights prices are going to be considerably more right now... especially for Aug 2020.

I'd wait it out until all airlines have released the flights for your dates and shop around.

I'm in a similar position for July flights. If I can't get under £2k for 3 of us from Glasgow or Edinburgh worth decent layover times I'll likely cancel

As airlines use algorithms that base price on supply and demand the demise of a carrier will always have an impact, which will only get worse should Norwegian's problems continue to grow.

Many people are refraining from booking with them which is a double edge weapon.

1. It will give Norwegian less income on which to survive the lean winter period (which was partly TC's problem).

2. Those people will be booking elsewhere which will trigger the aforementioned algorithms which will push up the price of flights even further.

Won't advise you to go one way or the other, BUT if you decide to wait keep a very close eye on Norwegian's situation. If they look like they are going under BOOK YOU FLIGHTS BEFOREHAND (with someone else, obviously), don't wait until it's officially announced.

same boat and being as calm as i can on these things. i am sure there is a software thing that prices flights based on factors and its not a human reaction to the TC problem.

I would tell you what my plan is; but keeping it to myself just in case everyone steals it! ;-)

Have travelled the world indirect, so thats always going to be the fallback option

I really wouldn't be panicking - as you said not all flights are even released yet. I quite often don't book until January unless I find a price I like beforehand.

I would wait a while to see if it settles down. Don't panic and pay a fortune when there's plently of time before you go. Maybe sales over christmas and New Year?

To all the people saying wait to book... is there not a worry the flights will fill up? As it’s August... and there’s only so many flights they can put on. And although expensive, If we choose to wait for a better price, could we miss out altogether?!

(Not stressing at all here lol! )

I think if all flights are full up early then Virgin, TUI etc would put more flights on. For european flights it said on the news Jet2 and other companies had extra flights being added to try and cover the missing Thomas Cook flights. If they can make money out of extra flights they will add more.

Last year we booked about 6 weeks before travelling from Glasgow with TUI direct to Sanford. I wouldn't worry too much about no flight beings available.
