G-VROY leaves Virgin Atlantic's fleet today
So after today Virgin Atlantic will unfortunately have no 747's left.
mobile.twitter/VirginAtl...56360272429056 Is it just me or is it crazy to think that tomorrow will be the first time in their 36 year history that Virgin Atlantic hasn't got any 747 variant in their fleet and will be the first time they have had an all twin engine fleet. |

Much as I’ll miss them (first flight to US, including a trip to WDW, was a 747) this was a long time coming.
Even pre-COVID it’s been a while since I’ve seen any Passenger airline flying 747s in or out of the UK airports other than BA or Virgin. Will always remember that first flight, which I did as an unaccompanied minor, being chaperoned aboard well ahead of everyone else, and being amazed at the width of the plane, how much the wings shook on take off and going up the old-style spiral staircase for a mid-flight visit to the flight deck. Just got to keep those memories. |

Amazing coverage from Big Jet TV. They were afforded access that you would always dream to be able to see- flight deck and pilot briefing.
So sad to see the final 747 leave these shores - that wing wave will stay with me forever  Beautiful and poignant recording of the whole experience.

Great job by the guys from BigJet TV and also Virgin Atlantic for the access they gave them. I got emotional from the moment the flight crew stood at the gate and had their photos taken
