Thanks DD 😘
He has had a very different experience than most but in some respects he has been lucky. Yes he has to do the 3 week quarantine but after that he should have a relatively normal experience. And the sun 🤣 For the UK based students it has been very tough too. Remember that apart from the quarantine O has only done 5 days of lockdown in the whole time so that has been a positive for him. Here’s hoping everyone gets back to normality soon Edited at 08:42 PM. |

The sun is a positive bonus 💞 My son who is teaching in Vietnam keeps sending me sunny photos of himself by a pool 😢
The lockdowns are hard for the UK based students. I think a huge majority are being sensible and sticking to the restrictions but they should be socialising and getting out more than they can now if this were normal university years for them. I’m so sorry that they are missing out on that part of their uni experience |

How are all our students coping? Has any gone back to their university homes? Are they struggling or coping with online learning? Any parents can’t wait to have a quiet home again? 😂
Georgia is still home, she’s hoping that the announcement by Boris on the 22nd will allow them to return to university for limited face to face sessions again. She is missing her friends and the freedom to go out for a walk around the city, as there really is very little to do in our part of rural Wales even when there isn’t a pandemic going on. She’s working very hard, 10 hour days 6-7 days a week as she’s listening to lectures, completing assignments and reports and various other projects that have to be completed for her course. At least by being home she’s getting her meals cooked for her. The best workspace for her is our dining table so it’s a bit difficult but we’re coping with it. She has heard that she’s been given an interesting field trip in July, a week at Slimbridge birds wetland centre. They were meant to be going overseas for their field trips but I think she will be very happy if the UK one can go ahead now as it will be some practical experience at least. |

Molly is back in Sheffield doing online lectures and then she will go up to Newcastle in a week for a 5 week placement. She is happy to be back with the girls

Good to hear Molly’s placements are going ahead soon, she must be looking forward to hands on experience again. Georgia chats to her housemates daily but it’s not the same as being with them at their house and I know she misses that. I’m pleased Molly is having fun with her friends once more

Dd is back to having almost weekly lab sessions. She has to get tested twice a week and submit the results before she can attend but it’s a small price to pay. She’s desperately hoping her placements go ahead for this year as she has one with the Yorkshire vet during the summer. She couldn’t be more excited if she tried 😂

Lovely to have the updates.
O is currently asleep in his quarantine hotel room for the last time. In three weeks the only person he has seen is the person who stuck something up his nose - twice Other than that he hasn’t seen anyone and hasn’t stepped outside the room. Tomorrow he is free - he can’t wait. Term started two weeks ago so he has been busy studying and programming. I am so incredibly proud of him - to effectively be in solitary confinement for 3 weeks without any grumbling is a great achievement for a 19 year old! But he is certainly happy to be out tomorrow! And it is mid 20s and sunny. What more could he want!
