I'm with EE and they offer roaming to the USA for £10 a month with a Roam Further add on, or it's a free swappable benefit if you have a smart plan.

I was on three every time I've been & on the vast majority of their plans roaming is included free.
You can get a 30 day contract with unlimited minutes & texts for £16 4gb, £19 12gb, £24 30gb or £30 unlimited data. I used my phone over there constantly for searching for places to shop or visit & as our satnav. Three said it would've cost me £1400 if I'd had to pay per mb of data! Three runs on at&t over there & I never had an issue.

Three and EE are the main two that have contracts with US as part of their inclusive package.
Most others are a chargeable bolt-on or pay per use model. Both EE and Three do pay as you go (e.g. pay monthly), one time purchase (e.g. buy xGb and use in 12/24 months) or contract (e.g. 12/18 month contracts) |

My phone has a dual sim capability, so I can just put a second sim in with US roaming and set it to use that sim for all data.
Useful feature if you are not with a provider who is US friendly and mid contract. |

I have Vodafone plan which gives free roaming in 81 different countries including USA (that was a quality investment in November 2019! ), be careful not to choose the 51 roaming countries that does not include USA

Check what your on atm incase its either included or cheap enough as an add on.
I'm sim only with O2 and its included. If it was not, it's a fortune with O2. As above ee offer it for a tenner as a one month add on if its not included. Outside of that a three payg sim with A bolt on for circa a tenner is your best bet. None of these uk option allow calling to US numbers though. For that you can either buy a local sim ( van get them via amazon before you go), Skype ( free months trial before you fly) or use zipcall if its more occasional. Plenty options and should never really cost more than £10 for a standard 2 or 3 week trip. |
