Thanks to everyone who posted I picked up my order this morning at 6.30am. Only a few others in front of me. At first they thought some of my order was missing! If i wasn't pre warned of this on this thread, I'd have been having kittens, lol. It was there in the end though and all was well. Very happy and would probably use it again

In previous years we've preordered and then joined the queue to collect (at least at our local M&S the queue has been very long, irrespective of time), this time we didn't pre-order, went yesterday late afternoon, majority of people appeared to have pre-ordered and were in separate collection lines, aisles were packed of goodies and we just selected what we wanted, paid and came home again

But I haven't used m&s for that sort of thing but their food in general is normally very good!
I can appreciate the position you are in seeing behind the scenes, things are always different to how the customer sees things but surely the whole point of pre ordering is for the supermarket to have prior knowledge of how many turkeys/what desserts etc are required at each venue and make sure they arrive accordingly. Just organisational skills surely - or am I in cloud cuckoo land

I picked up my order at 9.30 this morning. A couple of things were substituted but they did sell them to me at the ordered cheaper price though.

Quite a few people had either no order arrived or items missing, one had ordered a seafood platter for this evening and was most upset. There was no organisation and I waited over 30 minutes.

I've been ordering for years and it's the first time I've seen such problems.

Unfortunately it is a domino effect. The store promises you the goods, they order the goods from the supplier, if the supplier has issues and doesn't deliver there really isn't a magic wand that can make it appear... the supplier may have their own domino effect going on... they promise M&S the goods, they order the ingredients form the supplier and on and on and on.

Glad you didn't have any problems.

The local M&S featured in the news yesterday due to the huge lines of people waiting for their food orders:

It makes a 90min queue for TSM seem almost reasonable.

I picked up my order this morning - they didn't have the trifle I ordered so refunded my money and gave me a strawberry trifle free... can't argue with that

Each year when the M&S party food appears we buy a selection to test them. I'm sorry but this year many were really disappointing. In fact, some were downright disgusting. The only thing I really liked were the little igloo desserts.
We had the big family bash yesterday (not everyone can make Christmas day) and once again the buffet came from Waitrose Entertaining - everybody agreed the selections were wonderful. I also like the fact that they allocate you a collection window so everybody doesn't turn up at once.

Unfortunately same experience here Geoff had a couple of gluten free party items which I had a week or 2 back and ended up throwing one box away, definitely not as good as previous years for my chosen party food options. Wonder if they've had a change of supplier.

DH queued for 45 minutes this morning. To then be given a piece of paper to join another queue. The turkey was stored out the back but I can't believe the shop assistant then goes around the store with his trolley to pick the remaining ordered items off the shelves while he stood and waited!

Why are the orders not made ready for collection?

The chap in front of him simply could not believe this either! What is the point in pre-ordering?

We will not be using them again regardless of what they taste like tomorrow.
