Firstly, congratulations on moving🥂 glad it all went through!

IMO you could do the hook thing with one centre light but would not be for me to do all 3. We had a similar one in our old house but only one wire from ceiling split into 3 suspended from a bar if you get the picture! This was fine when all 4 of us were home but when the kids left it would have been nice to push the table against the wall. We couldn’t though as dh would have smacked his head!

Good luck with it all and enjoy x

I think it would look a bit odd and might get on your nerves after a while, especially if you have to dodge them. As an alternative have a look at rise and fall lights. You can wind them up to the ceiling when your table is against the wall and then lower them over the table when you move it out.

We have these in our dining room that run above the table...

It's the symmetry of the lights with the length of the table that make it work, so I'm afraid I agree that it could look a little disjointed if the table's pushed away from them.

What about a large floor lamp that sits over your table instead?

Thanks for the replies and good wishes everyone. Slooowly getting there with unpacking!

So best laid plans and all that, we put the dining table in the dining room and hated it. It’s a big solid oak table and it didn’t look right. So we’re going to try somewhere else and see how it looks.

I think if that area has the potential to be a walkway without the table being there, you’d be risking banging your head depending on how low they hang.
