The only time I have struggled was I think Sep one year had a heatwave and the local kept apologising for just how hot it was as it was over 100 degrees. Even then we coped but it wasn't as comfortable. The heat there is very different to here and it's more like the heat is in the air as opposed to coming from the sun, if that makes sense. May is lovely though and one of our favourite times.

We where there in May 2011 as well. It was a hot time.

I remember the weather forcast for Mothers day was along the lines of:

" If you're going to take Mom out for mothers day, do it in the morning as it going's to be too hot to do anything!"

Didn't stop us though, mad Dogs and Englishmen hey?

I feel the heat differently out there as its more of a humid heat as opposed to a dry heat that sucks all the moisture out of your skin like Italy or california, I can't take that heat at all well but florida I cope with quite well

To me it's only hot when it's in the 90's. Low 70's is 'cold' - I get goose bumps! The exception is when the humidity is really high, like now, then low 70's doesn't feel cool.

We are here now but May is our usual time, early May is lovley and lower humidity so it is easier to cope with in the parks. It is the humidity that really tires you out just need to ensure you pace yourself and drink plenty of fluids.

Thank you for all your replies and advice! We are looking forward to the heat - our first holiday abroad in over 10 years.
I just know I will melt. Dd will love it though!
Plenty of pool time to be had, lots of water and a good sunscreen!
