Virgin open tickets- flights are now cheaper, can I get the difference back?

what happens when you opt for the voucher?

Do you get a totalled voucher you can use for any other booking in the future? or do you have to stick to original tickets, ie 3 adults?

UPDATE: I sent a message several days ago regarding booking 4 PE rtn flights that had been changed to open tickets earlier this year. I was hoping to take advantage of the current sale price - £241 less each person.
Last night I got my reply via WA. I was told as original ticket was non refundable I wouldn’t get a refund.

Today I thought I’ll try someone else & phoned flying club. I didn’t mention what agt had said yesterday or abt the non refundable ticket.

I’ve re-booked (YEAH) & have a refund coming within 14 days of £964

So thank you wise Dibbers, it really is worth trying another method / agent if your told something that you believe is wrong.

I also have an update- I was refunded the difference within two weeks of booking the new flights. I did the rebooking over text, I did have to wait for a week for a response but I can’t fault the service.

Whether or not that refund is already gone on Christmas presents is another matter!

VA have just this week changed this cheaper fare refund policy. It no longer applies and this is stated on the website.

What is not clear is that it applies to bookings made after 4th Dec. Cant be 100% sure of the date but its give or take a couple of days. So yes if you booked before the 4th then you'll get a refund difference if rebooking but beware if you're booking from new now...VA are no longer offering the fare difference if you choose to exercise 1 or more of the 2 date changes.

This is coming from speaking directly with VA on Tuesday this week.
