Cladding on buildings

Sorry it’s probably not even called that but I’ve seen a few houses recently where they’ve removed the tile on the front of the house and put coloured cladding up in place of it... like this...

What is this called?

Has anyone had it done?

How much does it cost?

Final question...

Could you use this rather than do some repointing on brickwork?

Thanks everyone.

If you google Plastic house cladding you will find lots of it.
We think it looks really nice.
Saw a house near us have it done and they were only there a few days

Fab thank you.

The front of our house has some terracotta scalloped tiles and some black ones, we were thinking of taking them off and cladding instead. It looks lovely on the ones I have seen.

On the right building it can look very nice. Plus it's a good option to get ride on broken and/or damaged tiles.

However on an old building it looks like a dogs dinner.

We had wooden cladding on the front of our 1960s house replaced with plastic. Our neighbour "knew" someone who could do it cheaply. A not so cheap lesson learned when it blew off during a storm and disappeared down the road.

The replacement was installed by someone that came recommended and we had seen their work on someone else's house. It still looks good years later.

Somebody near where we walk out dogs is just having it done with cedar, it looks lovely.
We said we will keep walking that way to see how it ages over time.

We have just made a fake garage door with a cladding called Envirobuild. We are very pleased with it. We are planning to replace the tile hanging at the front in the future with it so got the higher fire spec stuff.

I think you would have to repoint before hanging it, we had a new block work wall, with new membrane before the builder fitted the planks.

Price was around £700 for the garage door plus my builders time, think the 4m planks were about £35 each. The tiles may be more as will need scaffolding and have no idea what is behind it😫

I had severe house envy when I visited my sister near Boston and all the houses there were cladded and painted in lovely pastel colours .

Oh god I’d never do it to an old house.

Ours is a 60’s semi detached bog standard cookie cutter house.
