York is pretty good, and Beverley have a Victorian one where the stall holders dress up in costume, they usually have reindeer too and santa makes an apperance

Rochester has a Dickens themed festival the weekend the market opens , all rather lovely, cobbled streets, street characters, a parade , bit of snow, market is in the Castle grounds , chestnut sellers and there’s usually carols in the cathedral too .

I wouldn’t recommend Chatsworth (much as I love Chatsworth), very overpriced...

Bath, Birmingham and Winchester are my recommendations. Reading has one too but I probably wouldn’t travel to it - nice it you are local.

I have found Bath to be ridiculously busy, as in shoulder to shoulder on 3 separate occasions at different times, on different days. DD is going there to uni and we hope to find a quiet time!

I liked Birmingham. (if anyone ever says Cheltenham... don't bother... it is tiny and expensive and the car parking fees in town - or park and ride - are bloomin extortionate)

Manchester is one of the biggest Christmas markets in the U.K. plenty of accommodation. restaurants, ice rink, loads of stalls all over the city. We really enjoyed Edinburgh too.
Depends on where you are and how far you want to travel. Hopefully they will go ahead this year !

I went to university in Bath and I agree it gets extremely busy. The best time to go was always midweek afternoons, so much quieter and you could actually look at the stalls properly without the crowds!
