Vaccinations required to fly?
As above, just scoping the general opinion on this (as nobody knows the truth just yet until BJ makes another appearance). Who thinks we will require being vaccinated before we are able to travel?
We are departing mid August and im the only one who hasnt had the vaccine yet out of our group. I know the 2nd jab is ~12 weeks after the first, and that will be too late by the time we go for me to qualify to fly... Im more than happy to pay for us to have tests here and over there, money isnt the issue. Its now more just purely being allowed to go full stop. What do we think?... |

I'm really not sure on the whole vaccination process!
I personally think in order for us to go to the US that a vaccine will be required considering how Biden has been with getting people vaccinated over there. I think there will be some countries who won't require them and some have stated that vaccinated passengers won't have to take a COVID test while those aren't will have to take a test or would have to quarantine I think its really hard to tell right now! Hopefully when they make the announcement in the next few days they'll give more of an indication!

For USA - yes, a good probability that being jabbed will be a requirement. Europe has already said its not a requirement

We're due to have our second dose the week before we fly. Wonder what the chances of getting that moved a week earlier are...

I really don’t think it will come into it
At the moment most countries seem to want PCR tests I’ve been following The Maldives and they have recently dropped entry for people who are fully vaccinated and gone back to PCR tests for everyone I thought vaccines didn’t stop you transmitting COVID? So why would this be enough?

I think it will be one or the other by August, initially it could be both but a lot will depend on we he opens up- not even sure that he knows who he is ! For the UK I believe May is all about putting people off travelling & July will see changes, especially when holiday groups are already putting pressure on the Govt about the costs.
The whole thing is non-sensical when we allow travel from countries like Brazil & India & only restrict them once "their" variants are here! Yet constantly getting told of the fear of bring a new variant back... SD

Vaccines don’t completely stop transmission perhaps... but they do reduce it. A study last week showed a single dose can reduce transmission by up to 50%... so if a country wants to take a layered approach to protect themselves from Covid being imported then they would probably say proof of vaccine, negative test and wear a mask on the flight for good measure.
I’m not sure how many countries will go with only accepting fully vaccinated people initially... but I don’t think it’s beyond the realms of possibility for a cautious nation to ask visitors to be fully jabbed and provide a negative test. |

Yes, First nationwide data from Israel published today shows 95% protection from infection after two doses of Pfizer jab.
By seven days after the second dose, the vaccine was giving people 95.3% protection against infection and 96∙7% protection against death. Protection against symptomatic and asymptomatic infection was 97.0% and 91.5%, respectively. Protection against hospital admission was 97.2% overall. By 14 days after the second dose, the protection had risen slightly further.

But then we are seeing this in the Seychelles, even with their high vaccination rate
