The Palm Restaurant - HRH
Just wondering if anyone has eaten at The Palm Restaurant at Universal's Hard Rock Hotel?! I'm looking for somewhere nice/Signature for my Mum's birthday when we're at Universal for 3 nights in December.
We want to do Bubba Gumps one night and then maybe Hard Rock Café or whatever else takes our fancy on City Walk however we'd like a Disney Signature equivalence for our last night which is also my Mum's birthday. Any comments on eating at The Palm or other suggestions in/around Universal for a Signature restaurant?! Thanks xxx |

I haven't eaten at any of the fancier restaurants within US but love the look of Tchoup Chop at the Royal Pacific resort. It looks so special but sadly my OH wouldn't eat a thing as he's so fussy.

Mama Della's at Portofino bay is lovely is you like Italian food?
The atmosphere is a neighbourhood Italian with cosy nooks and crannys, the food is excellent and there is a guitar player/singer who comes around the tables and takes requests, so you could think of a request to make for your mum for her birthday.

I've seen the odd glowing report for The Palm on here but it doesn't seem to be a restaurant that features in reviews very much.
We're planning to go in October for a birthday so I'll report back. |

Have eaten at Palm a few times and always thoroughly enjoyed it until our last visit in 2014. Now don't get me wrong it has never been a cheap night out but the prices seemed to have rocketed and the service was ropey at best.

We had a great meal at Mama Della's in October 2014. The food was delicious, and it felt a million miles away from a theme park. It was so much fun to hear the strolling musicians (I remember "Volare", "That's Amore" and (weirdly) "La Vie en Rose").
The "posh" restaurant at Portofino is Bice. We didn't eat there but you can sometimes get Bice certificates on restaurant.com. |

We really enjoyed it there, food & service was very good but like all things what one person loves another one hates. Go & have a look at the place & the menu then make up your mind.
