Any New Car Dealers? Question about £40k tax

Hello.

Thinking of buying a new BMW (well PCP) The OTR price including all extras is £40,150 which takes it over the £40,000 for the higher tax bracket. Am I right in thinking that it will be under the £40,000 threshold as I’ve still to subtract the registration fee and the first tax which I’d £555?

Is that OTR price ‘ the price to you’ - ie after any discounts you have negotiated ?
Or the full price without any discount ?

The list price of a car is the price before road fund /first reg fee . So if the OTR price you have quoted is at full list plus RFL/FRF, then yes you wouldn’t have to pay the extra ‘ over £40k tax

The above price is the RRP/list price from BMW. I’m paying a lot less than that. The £41,150 is the full price before the discounts are applied and includes the RFL/FRF.

No idea if this is any use.

BMW are supposedly offering massive discounts at the moment.

Family member NHS eligibility a further saving for a neighbour.

I don't know anything about it, just thought it was possibly worth posting.

Discounts make no difference to the tax liability as that is calculated on the list price not discounted.
