That is entirely different to giving an officer on the ground to apply it during stop and search rules.

I was not implying it is a free for all. However, I am not comfortable with the power being granted to Police forces at all - judges or magistrates are available 24 hours a day, and in my opinion it is not necessary.

I view a complaints process as akin to closing the stable door after the horse has bolted. Even if a complaints process found the warrant was improperly granted, the Police force would have the information and it would almost certainly be admissible.

A balance always has to be struck, but I feel this goes too far in favour of the state, and it may well lead to the widening of powers elsewhere. Just my opinion, which I'm entitled to.
