Mobile Star Wars films - where to start?

We’ve never watched any of the Star Wars... I know shock horror!

I thought it would be a good idea to at least watch one before our February trip to prepare us for Star Wars land. I think it’ll help it make a bit more sense to us.

So, where do we start? What film would you suggest is best to get an understanding of the story, but that works as a stand-alone (if that even exists) in case we don’t want to watch more.

Star wars films were not released in order. So the first one released was episode IV A new hope.

4,5,6 were released.

Then 1,2,3.

And now 7,8 and 9 this christmas.

Personally I would start with episode IV, A new hope - first one released.

But i think you either start with episode IV or episode I. But episode I won't help you understand the bigger picture of star wars as much as episode IV will.

Enjoy!

If you watch episode 1 you’ll never watch the rest given how appalling it was 😊

I watched the original trilogy as a child but haven’t seen anything since apart from the episode 1 of the ‘reboot’.

Must admit we walked round galaxy edge for about 5 mins and left. The theming is fantastic but genuinely think you really have to be a fan to get anything out of it..

On terms of being ready for Galaxys Edge... I would watch Stars Wars - a new hope. It was the 1st one to be released (but now 4th film in the series).
However all the main characters are in this one and of course the Millennium Falcon.
Hopefully you’ll enjoyed that one and be converted to the ways of the Force 😂

I would go with the original ones, released in 70s/80s. In case you only watch one, I think it would have to be the first one, Star Trek - A new hope. The next two are definitely a continuation of the story and I think you would be missing context if you jumped into one of those. Also if you did like whichever film you saw and wanted to see more, you would then be going backwards.

Me personally would watch the original first 3. When I think of Star Wars, I think of those films and the original creator, George Lucas not all these spin offs.

I recently rewatched that trilogy, it was even worse than I remembered!

I would tend to agree that apart from the rides, I don’t think GE land itself, would be of particular interest to anyone that doesn’t know Star Wars.

There are many ways to watch the Star Wars films. It all depends on your level of interest and nostalgia in the Star Wars Universe

Storyline / Timeline Watch Order
Star Wars: Episode I – A Phantom Menace
Star Wars: Episode II –Attack of the Clones
Star Wars: Episode III –Revenge of the Sith
Solo: A Star Wars Story
Rogue One: A Star Wars Story
Star Wars: Episode IV –A New Hope
Star Wars: Episode V –The Empire Strikes Back
Star Wars: Episode VI –Return of the Jedi
Star Wars: Episode VII –The Force Awakens
Star Wars: Episode VIII –The Last Jedi

Where does Batuu / Star Wars Galaxys Edge Fit In?
Batuu / Star Wars Galaxys Edge timeline is after Star Wars: Episode VIII –The Last Jedi, so if you just want to be familiar with characters in Batuu / Star Wars Galaxys Edge just watch
Solo: A Star Wars Story
Star Wars: Episode VII –The Force Awakens
Star Wars: Episode VIII –The Last Jedi

Nostalgia Watch Order / Release Order
Star Wars: Episode I – A Phantom Menace
Star Wars: Episode II –Attack of the Clones
Star Wars: Episode III –Revenge of the Sith
contain spoilers for the rest of the films, so many people like to watch in release order which is

Star Wars: Episode IV –A New Hope
Star Wars: Episode V –The Empire Strikes Back
Star Wars: Episode VI –Return of the Jedi
Solo: A Star Wars Story
Rogue One: A Star Wars Story
Star Wars: Episode VII –The Force Awakens
Star Wars: Episode VIII –The Last Jedi
Star Wars: Episode I – A Phantom Menace
Star Wars: Episode II –Attack of the Clones
Star Wars: Episode III –Revenge of the Sith

The Purist Watch Order
Star Wars fans can be super critical. Many fans have a strong dislike for Star Wars: Episode I – A Phantom Menace
Star Wars: Episode II –Attack of the Clones
Star Wars: Episode III –Revenge of the Sith
and avoid watching these films.
