Going to bed in the light nights

It is only another 4+ weeks before we reach the longest day and the nights will slowly start to cut back . - don't even mention the C word.

But at the moment does anyone else love going to bed at around 10.30 to 11pm and looking towards the north and the west to see it isn't totally dark (at least in NE England - for our friends N of the border it will be even later). In the next month it will get to almost midnight before the light fades but it never truly gets totally dark leaving the skies a midnight blue all night. There is something so special about the light in the UK that we don't always apppreciate.

I have tried to tell many of my Florida friends about our sunrise and sunset times varying so much and they really can't understand. I have spent time in Alaska in high summer and winter when it never gets dark or light and perhaps thats why I appreciate our long days and short nights and that even in mid-winter we don't get total darkness for 24 hours.

As it approaches the shortest nights I usually complain that I don't like having to go to bed when it's still light. I like a 8:30-9pm sundown. That's late enough for me.

Nope, dislike longer evenings and brighter mornings, sun is shining in my room too early each morning,

Love shorter evenings, later mornings, lighting fires 🔥, love days after June 21st as evenings soon start to push in

I love going to bed when you can still see that there is some sort of light in the sky. I do now however shut my blinds so I’m not awake at stupid o’clock, but do like when I am up, around 7, that it’s light. And love that when I leave It’s broad daylight.
But that faint lightness in the sky at bedtime is quite magical I think.

I’ve always loved this too, I always make a point of going to bed really early at least once so it’s still light in the bedroom, I find it really cosy
