Fixing a Kitchen Aid
My trusty Kitchen Aid stand mixer started making strange grinding noises last week. I assumed the beater need realigning so I tried it without the bowl to see if that was the issue.
It isn’t It’s the head itself and I noticed sparks within when I got down to eye level with the speed lever slot. It’s out of warranty so I’m tempted to take it apart myself. Has anyone had this issue and was it an easy fix? On a side note the lever has been springing to on as soon as you switch it off for a year or two so I’ve been having to switch it on and off at the wall for ages. I’ll be needing to sort that too! |

It could be worn gears it’s an easy fix but fiddly easier to do if you take the head off the base and put an old sheet or towel down on the surface as it’s messy
Kitchen aid do you tube videos on how to fix |

Excellent! Thank you both!
I’d rather not have to order a new one so I’m currently using a cheapy hand mixer and it’s not happy with the workload! I’ll report back!

Had the same problem with ours a couple of years ago. I gave it a go, but I'm rubbish at this sort of thing so only managed a temporary fix. My father in law sorted it though following the Youtube vids.

It actually sounds more like the brushes are worn out. It will spark like anything and they are just above the speed lever. so you will see sparks in there.
Easier to check those first as they unscrew from the black round slots either side. They normally included a spare set in the pack when you buy it. Or you can just get some off Ebay. |

I haven’t had a chance to get started yet (obviously I’m so busy, what with all the time I’ve been on here for the last 2 days 😉 )
I am positive the box is in the loft so I’ll see if there are any brushes lurking in there. Thanks for the tips
