Chemo treatment question

Hi

I'm experiencing the normal affects of chemo treatment but one thing in particular is bothering me. My BP has become very low running at 105/59 , leading to dizzy spells and I also think contributing to fatigue and breathlessness.

My GP is, reluctant to change my BP meds without oncologist permission can't see oncologist for two more weeks.

I just wondered if anyone else has had this issue. I'm finding it quite an issue as I try to recover between treatments

Thanks in advance

Hi Tinkerbell,

Do you have a dedicated chemo nurse? It may be worth calling the oncology department at the hospital as two weeks is a long time to have blood pressure that low!
Sending hugs xxx

Unfortunately, here in Spain we don’t. I’ll chase GP again tomorrow thanks for replying

Try asking on cancer research uk chat forums, it has been incredibly helpful to me with all my questions about my husbands illness and treatment. Big hugs Tinkerbell xx

I can’t help regarding the issue of low blood pressure, but my chemo resulted in breathlessness during my treatment. Struggled even to get upstairs without getting really out of breath.

I did also get extremely tired as treatment went on.

Luckily neither lasted long after my chemo finished.

Were you given any info in relation to the side effects of the type of chemo you’re having. Both fatigue and breathlessness were known side effects of mine.

Big hugs. It’s horrible treatment. X

I don’t have any advice sorry, but could your doctor not ring or email your oncologist to discuss your medication?
I hope you are ok and good luck with the chemo x x

Hi tinkerbell
My blood pressure is also running much lower than normal however I’m not on any BP medications
I have an oncology appointment tomorrow and it’s on my list to ask about it so I can let you know what my oncologist says.
My BP usually runs at 140/80 and recently it’s been around 108/60

Mums having chemo at the moment for breast cancer and she’s had this, she actually passed out a few times, they ended up taking her off the blood pressure tablets she was on.
The advice her Macmillian nurse gave her was to drink lots and move slowly, no standing up quickly either, that was a couple of months ago and she’s no longer having problems.

Big hugs xx
