Chazy & Ben Shanghai & Tokyo - Shanghai 10th May

We set our alarms for around 8am just to have a bit of a lie in! I could have slept for longer! Ben went down to check out just before 11 while I finished packing my bags! We waited for the hotel shuttle to the metro station which was really useful!

The ticket machines don't seem to do day tickets so we went to the counter, the guy behind understood easily what I wanted which was great!

We found English to be difficult for Disney staff to understand sometimes! Two day tickets purchased - 36rmb total.

Through security quickly and we took line 11 to Oriental Sports Centre then line 2 to People's square.

We had a naughty breakfast on route! The directions I'd written were perfect!

My new phone case came in really useful as it had a wrist strap and a little pocket for my metro ticket!

Yes that is a hoover...
The metro station was easy to navigate and the hotel was easy to spot!

We checked in around 1pm, nice and easy! 1000rmb deposit left (500rmb per night) Room on the 11th floor right by the lift and with a great view! I'm gonna like it here! We put batteries on charge, had a nosey of the room and headed back out at 2pm.

Ben wanted a burger/chips and spotted McDs over the road so we started there! Total 73rmb. It filled a hole & I don't know if it's because we've not had Mcds in a long time but I swear the burger tasted like a proper burger!

We headed to Peoples Square metro and jumped on line 2 to West Nanjing Road. I was excited to see Uniqlo but rather disappointingly it was all the same as the UK!
The metro is so pretty!
On the way I took a picture of these steps (we walked sooooo much! ) I didn't take a picture of this man I didn't realise I had (Michael McIntyre lookalike Ben pointed out!)

We set off for Hard Rock Cafe in search of my magnet! It's really warm today so we popped into Goose Island Brewhouse for a quick drink! Ben had a Loose Goose & I had Pepsi (66 rmb - happy hour).

We sat down to look at the map and realised we'd missed Hard Rock as there wasn't really any signage outside! We walked back the way we came (this is a theme on our adventures! ) and I got my magnet(along with a luggage tag) total 206rmb.

We were pretty much next to the metro station for line 2 and as the weather was nice we agreed to go to Shanghai Tower.
(Look at those stairs!)
We got off at Dongchang Road metro avoiding buses (narrowly! ) and the bikes & scooters (they ride on the path! )

Saw quite a few strays!

Entrance cost 360 rmb - I tried to pay using my visa - wouldn't work! I don't think it's a bank thing as I told my bank I'd be going away when we left. I asked the woman if visa is accepted and she said sometimes yes sometimes no! Cash is used most here - other than Apple Pay & Union pay! We paid cash and headed in! 632m tall makes Shanghai Tower 2nd tallest in the world. Burj Khalifa is the tallest at 828m.

We stayed too long lol - I should have planned a bit better!

People were camped out with tripods and food ready for sunset!

Someone dropped their phone!

I really wanted to see the pearl tower lit up so we stayed until 7.15!
