Drinks on DDP - Does this make it better value for DVC
Interested in thoughts on this.
If you would purchase a speciality beverage or alcoholic drink with your meals, due to the fact that those drinks are probably more expensive than the price increase does this make the plan more attractive for purchase? For me I still don't eat enough to save money even though I would not be averse to the occasional alcoholic beverage |

Unless you use buffets most of the time I don't think the drinks change would make it cost effective. On the "normal" UK price yes but DVC price ... until the fx rate get's back to the $1.5's ( if ever) then maybe.

There is a post on this a bit further down. I think it borderline makes sense for me. We'll be doing a lot of character meals and having kids in the party just pushes it into a benefit for us. A kids buffet at ohana is $21 but the dining for a day is only about $25 for the day at the current child rate. It's not for everyone but for us (and the constant demand for ice cream and drinks in the heat) it may probably just work out.

I'm grateful for this post as it prompted me to re-look at DDP just before we left for our recent trip and it made sense for us. Just did it for 2 days at the end. We had Ohana and Chef Mickey's booked on those days and DDP wasn't much more than the cost of those meals.

Use distripplanner.com , to compare cost of DDP to paying out of pocket. Not sure if they've added the extra $5 cost per day per person on for 2018 yet. Buying dining plan for a week, compared to what we would realistically eat, costs us about $500-$700+ extra per week so we wouldn' t get it now. Now my 2 kids don't drink alcohol and they have enough to eat without 2 more speciality shakes a day. My wife doesn't drink much. So really it's just getting more over the top price wise compared to paying out of pocket. When your kids get over 10 the value drops off a cliff.
