Renting 1 night during 'normal' stay
Had a quick look but can't find much info.
If we had a normal 2 week stay booked onsite at a mod (for example) but fancied 1 or 2 nights at a DVC, would this work if we had a 2nd booking under the same name? Could we link it to our MBs and would that cause a prob, or just keep using the MBs we get at check-in at the mod for paying etc and use the DVC-issued room key just for the room? Does this make much sense? TIA

It's no issue or problem at all. We have done this frequently.
Our latest plan is we stay at a value resort for one night upon arrival then move to a DVC Resort the next day. All link on MDE and show under "my reservations" but you do end up with a load of Bands. I tend to put away the first lot of Bands then use the next set.

Thanks Tom, in my head it sounded easy and I was sure other people must have done it, but just wanted to make sure. I take it if I rented some points and the owner put the booking in my name that MDE would automatically link it up or not?

No they never link. You will get the reservation number and then manually link it yourself.
Basically the same as you do with all bookings be it cash DVC owner or DVC renter. Edit. If you want to save the planet you can decline the Bands from the DVC stay, present your existing ones at the DVC check in and they will apply the room entry to them and also change the charging privileges as they are higher at DVC Resorts. For our Summer trip we will end up with 9 Bands Three for check in at a value resort Four for a DVC check in as Daughter arrives that week Two for Annual Passholder
