Disney - First 2 weeks in January -anyone been?
Hi everyone,
I'm so desperate to book another Disney holiday & just looking at a few dates that may suit us as a family in 2018. For those of you who have been early January, what are your thoughts? Crowd levels high? Weather still warm? Any advice would be great!

Crowds will be very quiet but it's too cold for us. We were there over Xmas 2 years ago and on out last day needed hats and gloves.
More than that it was jeans and sweatshirts every evening and a sweatshirt first thing and for me Florida is all about heat and shorts If i didn't have a choice of go but not otherwise. Katie |

We went at the beginning of January 2016 the weather was abit mixed but OK and mainly the parks were quiet.
We quite liked it no humidity, warm enough to sit and sunbathe around the pool, blue skies most of the time just cooler first thing in the morning and evening but just go prepared. Still beats the weather back in the UK.

We went Jan 2015 as 2 of us were doing marathon. It was only shorts weather a handful of days and several days were really chilly. Crowd levels were quite low so easy in parks but not pool weather for me

I've been 3 times in Jan usually around the 4th it's a mixed bag really one year it was freezing some days otheres were warm but not hot but every time we've done a water park we just pick a good day 😬 Usually only british people in the water parks at that time of year but the water is heated so if your in the lazy river you don't feel the cold 😂😂😂

We're considering January too, so interested in feedback.
I thought it was a busy time but sounds like I'm wrong. We were thinking early/mid December might be better crowd wise but maybe not. Id prefer if we could go in January as the free dining is available then and not in December. |

Thanks everyone,
I think my son would prefer it, as he struggles with the heat & humidity in August - however I like the warm weather We have only ever been in August/September before, so I thought it would be a nice change and obviously all the Christmas decorations will still be up. The other dilemma I have is the fact that it would mean my daughter would have to miss 5 days of school... and she's in Year 11 Normally I wouldn't entertain the idea of her missing school, but we've had such a stressful couple of years as a family, that we now think life is too short & want to start 2018 off in our happy place. Aaargh! Decisions decisions!

The first few days are busy, with the tail end of the Christmas break crowds. Then the marathon brings its own crowds. After that it drops off to manageable.
If you're not bothered about catching the last few days of Christmas (I'm not sure when they pull the decorations down, have seen mixed reports) I would say the second week onwards is great. Except MLK weekend could be busy again, but midweek should be low crowds. I would've loved to go in January, had to push back to February. Edited at 07:07 PM. |

We went mid January in 2014 and it was too cold and wet for us. We usually go early December when it is much nicer.
