We ventured to Orlando with Virgin Atlantic on “Ruby Tuesday” In the bubble!
I am only reporting on the cruise as we never did much else & being on the Wonder was the highlight!
10 – 14 Feb 2008
Day 1.
We arrived at the port at about 10.45am to be met by me FIL who works on the Wonder. We checked in straight away which took all of 5 mins as the terminal was almost empty. We also carried our luggage on with us!
We were the first passengers onto the ship! It was a full cruise as there were competition winners on board. It was a thing Good Morning America has been running! We were in room 1037. It was a deluxe inside stateroom right next to the health centre. It was really nice. We met our stateroom host who was Ben-Hos!
Our dining rotation had been set as Parrot Cay, Tritons, Tritons & Animators Palate. We had booked Palo for our final night & we did not was to miss the show in AP. We went to guest services to change this but we could not do it until 1pm.
We headed straight to Beach Blanket for Lunch first! We sampled a little of everything as you do! How disgusting are some peoples eating habits?
Then it was off to Wavebands to change our dining rotation! It was changed to TAAP. We had no choice about sacrificing one restaurant as the middle 2 will always remain the same! Parrot cay was better as we could eat there for Breakfast or Lunch. We were also on the 8pm dining slot.
We then wandered round to find our way around the ship bumping into Pluto who was on his way for a rest. We grabbed a cheeky photo as he had already finished his appearance. Then we went to unpack.
After a little rest in quiet cove it was time for lifeboat drill. Our muster point was in the WD theatre. Even this was made fun by the CM entertain us. This only took 15 mins. We then dashed back to our room to dump the life jackets and onto Deck 10 for the adventures away party.
Captain John sounded the horn at least 4 times on the way out of the port. Unlike the Magic the previous day who only got one. (Yes we watched the Magic sail out the day before we also took Pics & have some video footage). We stayed on Deck 10 until about 6pm. We went to get changed and popped into diversion for a couple of drinkie poos on our way to Tritons for our evening meal.
Before dinner we stopped by the professional photo guy and had some photos taken!
Tritons was yummy with a good selection of food. We were introduced to Ralph from Jamaica who was our server & Mihailo or Michael from Serbia was his assistant. These stayed with us for the rest of the cruise except for Palo’s. The water was a little choppy as we expected.
After diner we went to wavebands to watch the late night adult entertainment it was Mike Super the Illusions & Magic show. This was excellent and we really enjoyed it! After this we went to Deck 9 for a drink to take to bed with us!


Day 2 – Nassau
We got up early and watched as we sailed into Nassau we had breakfast in Beach Blanket and headed back to our cabin to get ready for a day in Nassau. First we wandered up the shops and along to the Straw market where you can find every FAKE designer hang bags and Tiffany bracelets known to man. They are really in your face asking what you are looking for but you can barter them down to get yourself a bargain. We went back onto the ship to have lunch in BB (again). After lunch we went on the ferry boat which cost $3 each one way to Atlantis. We first walked through the harbour OMG the size of those Yachts is amazing! We then ventured over to the Famous hotel! We passed through the hotels shops and casinos before we stood and watched the fish and sting rays swimming around for ages. It was so hot we decided to get back on the ship and take advantage of the quiet cove and catch some sun!
We went to the 6.15pm showing of the art of the story. It was ok it looked like it had been thrown together really quickly.
It was AP show night and we were late leaving Nassau so we decided to watch the pilot boat escort us out. The water was a little choppy but we never felt a thing. The poor pilot boat was all over the place and we were looking over deck 4 midship we watched the pilot jump form the ship to the boat. Man he had guts!
We were joined by MIL & FIL again the food was excellent along with the service. FIL was in his White dress uniform and some passengers thought he was the captain. I did not make much of the AP show. We were sat down for dinner at 8pm and we had finished everything before it began. We had to wait for the latecomers to be served before it could commence.
We went to wavebands for sweetheart bingo and match your mate. Sweetheart Bingo was a bit of a rip off $15 a ticket and the prize was to win $600 worth of spa treatments & it was first to get a line and that was it. They called 10 numbers and it was all over. Needless to say I never won!

Day 3 – At Sea
The competition winners won a day on Castaway Cay for themselves. The day was windy & very overcast. The ship pulled real close to CC and the winners got onto a little boat and sailed off to the island were they would stay all day and spend the night on a yacht. We pulled off and just sailed around all day. We headed over to Quiet cove after Breakfast to do some swimming. It began to rain in the afternoon so we went back to our cabin and watch the nanny diaries.
Tonight was Pirate night & Golden Mickeys (the itinerary was changed to accommodate the competition winners). We caught the 6.15pm show and it was really good. We then went off to AP for Pirate Dinner. This meal was really nice it was the same menu for all the restaurants. After dinner we went to Deck 10 to watch the pirate party. It was so windy Mickey could not do his usual stuff! Then as per usual we went to Wavebands to watch the karaoke. Some people take it really seriously!

Day 4 Castaway Cay
We were told that we tried to dock at 6.30am but it was to windy so we had to pull back out a wait to be tugged in. We eventually got into CC around 8.30am. We had breakfast in PC and ventured off the ship to Serenity bay. The water was calm and the beach was really quiet. It was bliss. For lunch we went to Cookies as we wanted to try snorkelling on the family beach...word of warning take your own snorkelling equipment it is really expensive to hire. The family beach was so windy and the water was rough to rough to snorkel in so we got out and it began to rain late on this the afternoon. So we took a stroll back to the ship.
That evening we went to see dreams in the Theatre. This performance was the best in my opinion. We then went to Palo’s for dinner. I have to say I was not overly impressed with the service. You could not fault the food that was to die for but our waitress was not nearly as good as some of the others around us. The water was really choppy causing the ship to have a lot of movement as we were sailing into a force 9 Gale. I was not feeling to good, I think I had too much sun so I had to go to bed while DH went to see the till we meet again show!

We flew home on Pretty Woman after 4 days of shopping!

Leaving the ship was hard as we really enjoyed it. Every night I would nip into the shop and have a couple of squirts for perfume to save using my own! The queue to disembark was HUGE and took us ages to get off!
