What a great mini cruise Mandy. It sounds like you had lots of fun and I love your pics too. Now we just need to let the Disney Ships know that we'd like champagne on embarkation
Thanks for sharing, and I hope you enjoy your fortnight in the Med

Sounds great Mandy, bet you cant wait for the next one,
Can I ask, how was the drive through/round Southampton? We have to be there on Saturday - Mayflower Terminal to join the Grand Princess and i'm driving (bit further than you - all the way from Central Scotland!) with 2 olds and 2 teens in the car - have the audio book of HP and the half blood prince on the ipod.

Mo, the drive was easily signposted from the motorway. Just follow the signs to the docks and then your terminal will be signposted too. Just have to look out for the right lanes to be in, but the traffic can be very slow around there so give yourself plenty of time.
Good luck to you on your long drive though...I don't envy you that! You'll need your lovely cruise after that drive! Have a lovely time

Mandy, I loved your mini trippie! So strange to see your photos which are just like the Pearl but slightly different.
I've never done DCL but we really enjoyed the experience of NCL, and for about 20% of the price DCL wanted. Thank you |

Thanks Karen Yes, I think the Pearl is a sister ship of the Jade so is very similar? Know what you mean about the prices!

That's right Mandy, I think Jewel, Jade and Pearl and Gem are the ones in that class (though I may have that wrong).
We didn't do any of the pay extra restaurants as the food was so good in the "free" ones, but am slightly regretting that now, having read what you said about the food |

We are definately going to eat more in the main dining rooms this time (budget dictates ) but hope to at least get to Cagney's again. It really was that good! Would also like to try Tepanyki next time. Only concern we have is whether they do a lot of veggie options onboard as dd is veggie. Did you notice?

Judy, just checked with Mark. Cost us total of $450, for both, not each. That was thru US site, whereas NCL UK wanted to charge total £600!

Hi Mandy
The main buffet (Garden Cafe, I think it was called) had a number of different veggie options every meal. There was always something without meat that was a main course, then loads of salad, veggie pizza, customizable pasta (so she could elect to just not include the bacon etc). I am trying to remember if one of the two soups was always meat free, but I can't say for sure. There was always an option in the main dining rooms, though not sure how great it would be if DD didn't like the sound of the option? I'll ask Jon when he gets home from work tomorrow and post again if he can think of anything extra. HTH Karen |
