We stayed at AKL when Irma hit. It was one of the only hotels which still served full buffets in the restaurants. ($10 breakfast $15 dinner)

We had to stay 3 extra days as our cruise was cancelled and we definitely got a reduced rate as we were already staying there.
They had entertainment in the lobby with dancing and we were able to walk round and talk to locals who had been evacuated.
We knew people who were stuck in their Disney rooms for 2 days under curfew with just sandwiches to eat.
