They cannot provide her with what she originally booked so she is entitled to a refund. She isn’t duty bound to wait.

If your flight is cancelled and you’ve booked a package holiday, you are entitled to a suitable alternative flight or, if that’s not possible, a full refund.

The package provider is saying they will source and provide "suitable alternative flight".

Pretty sure it is correct and your text confirms it. There is no ‘suitable alternative flight’ available to be provided. They are asking to wait on a ‘wait and see’ basis, so no, there is no alternative flight available.

You are advising her badly I have to say...

Its reasonable for them to be given some time to source the alternative flights. Its quite unreasonable and impossible to demand this instantly of them.

By all means she can make a claim to ABTA, Credit card company or anywhere she wants but until the package provider says we can no longer fulfill the holiday and cancel it i don't see what you can claim for.

Unless its been cancelled you can't claim.

I agree with dx4100. The OP booked a package and at this point the package provider believes they will be able to deliver. I cannot see any grounds for a claim at this time.

You have to give them some time to deal with the issue. You can’t expect them to instantly resolve the issue. Put yourself in their shoes with thousands of customers needing new flights.

So are you saying that if in a months time, Sunshine come back to me with flights on Air Ukraine(no idea if that is a real airline) that I have to accept them? Because that won’t be happening! The document that was sent outlining my rights states that if there is a major change, other than price, then I am entitled to a full refund. At this moment in time there isn’t another flight on the date we wish to fly, to the airport we wish to fly to, for a price the same or less than I paid. Surely they cannot force me to pay more or fly with an airline that I would never have booked?
