Oh no it’s not for everyone esp if you have been a regular drinker. I don’t drink either but it wasn’t easy for me to stop.

OP stick with it, you are trying this at the most difficult time of the year.

It's s habit to go straight to the fridge when you get in and "reward" yourself with a glass of something.

If you can replace that with maybe a walk round the block etc it'll be easier to do IMO.

We never drink mon-fri and rarely at weekends but we are off for tea at the Ritz on Saturday with our neighbours so it'll be champers on the train, maybe a cocktail on John Lewis roof garden and defo bubbles with dinner.👍
I admire your willpower Katie but hell will freeze over before I will walk around the block in place of having a glass of wine.
Circumstances have meant I have really cut back this year but I enjoy a drink and see no reason to deny myself

My DD has stopped drinking. She has an app that counts the days, she’s almost a year in. She has the odd wine when out, which is rare. My other daughter stopped about eight weeks ago, she has a restaurant, found herself using wine to unwind. Both now feel better, both sleep better, wake up fresher etc

But, It’s not easy, I stopped drinking back in July. There was a programme about drinking a while back. It’s deemed the acceptable addiction, unlike smoking. Drinking is everywhere, all occasions are associated with drinking, a bottle of wine a night is not unusual, a glass of wine at home is more than several in the pub due to glass sizes.

Good luck OP both your health and your wallet will be better for it

I said I was going to do this this month! I’ve not done as well... settled for no drinks Sunday- Thursday! Then I feel like I deserve my wine on a weekend 😀
Good luck!

It's best not to think of the length of time just take one night at a time and we are all here for support/encouragement.

I will start a social thread for anyone that wants to use it.
