Sykes cottages in the UK

I'm thinking of booking to take my Mum away for a few days next year. Last year we booked a barn through airbnb but it was pretty expensive as had a lot of bedrooms to accommodate up to eight of us.
Next year it may just be me and Mum. I've found some nice lodges at Rutland Water , which is where she wants to go. Also it's not far from where my daughter lives so we can visit her too.
Around £600 for three nights in June seems reasonable for a two bedroom place. It's on one level which is good as Mum is really struggling walking far and with stairs now. She is 80 in January and unfortunately not very fit. She loved the place we stayed last year and there is an airbnb two bedroom cottage next to the barn, but the bedrooms and only bathroom is upstairs.
Anyway this ramble is really about Sykes cottages, has anyone experience of them.

I wouldnt be paying £600 for 3 nights especially out of season. I think Sykes can be on the expensive side.

I don't mind if it's good accomodation. Who would you recommend.

Yes, we have used Sykes cottages a couple of times and not had any problems.
I'm sure they are a bit like Holiday Lettings, they are just a management company who look after property for the owners. So 2 cottages next door to each other could use different cleaning agencies.
I always chose our holiday properties based on reviews and their ratings. We have never had any big problems, just different levels of cleanliness. This year we stayed in a gorgeous property in the Isle of Wight, the house itself was perfect, but the cleaner had left crumbs everywhere.

I’ve used them several times, worth going through Quidco for some cashback too. I always check the various cottages websites and book whichever meets our needs for the right price

Hi Judy,

I work with Sykes a lot they are a booking agent for holiday homes. I manage a lot of Sykes properties.

I find them really good and efficient to work with and they have a real passion for guests having a great holiday in lovely properties.

If I can help in anyway just ask.

I used them for the first time last year and found them to be very good.

Like you, I needed a property which was on one level with a walk in shower for my elderly parents. We stayed at a 3 bedroomed lodge, not far from Liskeard, with lovely views for a long weekend in July.

Used Skye Cottages a number of times and normally they are really good.

One thing I’d say, if there is no photo of the bathroom then it’s likely because the ceiling is at a weird slant or it’s really, REALLY small. Stayed in a place earlier this year which had a corner bath under a sloping ceiling so shower was impossible for anyone over 3ft 8! It was a 3 bedroomed property but didn’t have any photos of the bathroom in the listing.
