At the moment, you would add it each morning that you want to use it. I'm sure there will be a giant "buy now" button in the MDE app, won't be able to miss it.

I know the US market will have the option to add on Genie at time of ticket purchase once it's released, I'm not sure if they will be extending that to UK tickets or not.

Its clear that Disney wants to exlcude a group of people who do not have or do not want to carry around a smart phone. I personally do not like having my phone in a park as I do not have international calling and see no reason to carry it. But guess now i don't have a choice. or are they putting in stations like they did for FP so you can adjust without a phone. Or are they going to supply some electronic devices for those who do not have one.

The fastpass kiosks are still in place, so I'd imagine these will get used, obviously they want people to try and use there smart phone to make use of genie system and I doubt you will be able to buy genie+ itself or the IAS passes from the kiosk unless your staying onsite.

The parks have WiFi so you don't have to have any specific international plan.
