I think it will either be before the end of October or Spring 2022, I don’t see it opening during the winter months

Can't see it opening up over the Winter. But I think there will be pressure from all sides to open things up next Spring. Many more people will be vaccinated and at that point you really have to consider whether there will ever be a better time to open borders up again (most likely with extra checks and rules in place).
Guess you would also have to consider the impact on airlines and holiday companies etc if they were to lose yet another year to any real level of business? |

No one has any idea or even an educated guess. We’ve rebooked for May.

We at work were told 19th July 2021 - obviously that didn’t happen.
I can’t see why it remains closed to us Brits. We have travelled around the world these last few months and I don’t see any evidence that we have been spreading the disease or making things worse ? |

I would love it to be before the end of this year. Just in time for Thanksgiving or Christmas would be most likely politically, allowing them to say they are reuniting families for the holidays.
But my gut feeling is next spring. The US numbers still aren't great and I think that's more the issue now that stats in UK and other countries. So those need to come down significantly so I just think they'll hold off. Both Thanksgiving and Christmas have potential for spikes without opening up, plus flu season. I want to be wrong but I think they'll leave the bans in place until start of next year at this point. |

Given their current stance and how Covid has developed in the UK I think that the US will wait until we can get through a winter and spring without cases running away again. The models suggest that numbers will calm down this winter. If this is the case then I think it will be the summer 2022.
