Virgin companion flight voucher options

First time I’ve had eligibility for a companion flight voucher and ‘thanks’ to COVID and extended use I’ve got two to use by mid 2023.

How to people tend to use these? All things being well we’re planning a December 2022 Disney trip but there’s 3 of us going so can only use one of the vouchers per bought flight. In the whole scheme of cost of a Disney holiday do people tend to use for upgrades rather than a cheaper flight where only taxes and surcharge are paid?

The other alternative is it’s my 50th in April 2023 so wife and I are going to Vegas without daughter so looking at upgrading from economy to PE or even 1st class using vouchers then instead.

Thoughts for people who have experience of using them and a rough idea of extra costs for upgrading to 1st 😊

What colour Flying Club level are you at, and how many miles have you got? It affects the potential usage of the vouchers that's all.

Currently got 110000 and on red. However I know they’ve recently updated their rules and speaking to virgin customer care it is possible to buy economy and then upgrade to 1st on red level but that’s without knowing what it would actually cost 😊

At the moment you could purchase two economy reward seats to Vegas, ( for 100,000 points) then use the two vouchers to upgrade to PE return. This would cost £480 in taxes per seat.
