Advice & opinion please

So I am expecting the email from Virgin to cancel our 9th October flights any time now.

The question is do I ask for a refund or move our dates, given the precarious position of VA (I have seen comments here, and do wonder how they are surviving) and the number of cases and no end end in sight of the travel ban. Is the money better off in my bank than theirs?

Julie

I personally would take a full refund for two reasons

1. Clarity on travel ban. Pointless booking until we know Sleepy Joe's position on things.
2. IF Virgin hit difficulties, you don't want to end up hassling around then wanting a refund if it looks like they might go under. Whilst not on the same scale as those dodgy Xmas gift companies who take thousands no one will see again, i wouldn't want the hassle.

I think that was the feeling in the back of my mind but I just needed reassurance, thanks.

Im not booking any more flights until I know I can actually travel, though to be honest I booked these earlier this year and it never crossed my mind for a moment that we wouldn't be going.

Julie, definitely go for refund, then you're not tied to Virgin trying to use their vouchers. Money will be back in your account where it should be, then, you're free to book with whomever you want, when you want. Fingers crossed, it won't be too long a wait.

I've only accepted Virgin vouchers once when I was offered 2 free, pretty much, anywhere-in-the-world tickets as compensation for a botched flight.

I would agree with a refund, particularly since you want to hold off rebooking anyway. The only thing that may tempt rebooking is if you got your current flights at a good price and they will move them without charge, as the rates for next year are through the roof on Virgin. But as mentioned above, cash in your pocket means you're free to find deals through other airlines anyway.

Refund requested and approved, just waiting for the credit back to the card we paid on
