Well after the worry of the lights not arriving, the man at the light shop I ordered them was adament that although the website may say out of stock, because I had ordered, any stock arriving would be allocated out. They are arriving this morning with dpd! so pleased and excited to see them hahaha

Getting a bit nervous now that it all starts (fingers crossed) next week. Still got quite a bit of packing to do this weekend.

I'm debating ordering some disposable coffee cups with lids for the workmen to use. I know some ppl that have done this and maybe it is easier.. is it overkill? would certainly take pressure off washing things up. I was going to get some paper plates for us to use too, purely to save again on washing up in the bath etc. Any tips appreciated!?

Also, toilets... I really don't want them using our downstairs loo. DH thinks i'm bonkers but yeah, not keen. I feel a bit awkward asking if they have a porta loo, I think i'll wait and see. DH is very much, where is the loo going to go, I don't want a toilet outside the front. I thought it could go round the back and he was 'how are they going to get it there?'. We do have a side passage alongside our garage and wall, but it is narrow and just big enough to wheel your bins down. Not sure a portaloo would fit :|

Also now worried about our fridge freezer. I envisaged it would get moved to our front room and plugged in, but then DH pointed out, they cannot get it through the door and round because of the shape of our hallway and wall positions/doors etc. When it arrived they brought it round the back and it came in through the back door. DH was oh it can stay in the kitchen it will be fine. I'm not sure this is the case! plus I don't want to be in and out of the mess getting our food and drink all the time.

Sorry a bit of a long post, starting to stress a bit!

xx

I love your kettle! I really hope it all goes well for you.
Personally I wouldn’t be expecting them to order a portaloo, and would just assume they would use the downstairs toilet. In ours at the min we only have an upstairs toilet, and whilst the dusty footprints are doing me in, I can’t expect them to not use a toilet. Once the downstairs is plumbed in I expect they’ll use that.
I’d leave the fridge freezer where it is, and they’ll move it if they need it moving
I wouldn’t feel comfy making myself a drink in a China mug and giving them disposable, but I think if disposable makes life easier for you all, then do it.

We’re doing the whole house, so it’s going to be a 6-8 week job, but it’s the cooking I’m struggling with.

OP. Just a heads up. A portable loo is between £35 and £50 a week to hire. So they would pass that cost on to you.

Tell them to do what we all have to do. Use a large squash bottle in the back of the Transit!

Why won't you let them use your downstairs loo? They will be in and out of the house/kitchen etc anyway. Just put some wipes/sanitiser, fresh towels out. You use the loo upstairs (I assume you have one by your post). We have a back door loo, when we have friends round and we're sitting out the back they use the back door loo, all wiped down sanitised etc and DH and I use the upstairs loo. Saves folks traipsing any further into the house than need to.

We’re having work done at the moment and the downstairs loo has gone. They asked for a portaloo which we pay for off £25 per week. It has to go at the front as although there’s loads of room at the back the company that comes and cleans it each week can’t get to it. If we still had a downstairs loo I’d rather they used that but then our whole house looks like a building site so maybe my standards are not that high 😂
